Albany to Denmark (Parry Beach)

Denmark had something that we got kind of attached to. Maybe it was because the IGA was so cheap? Joke. It was pretty cheap tho. It just had a little town feeling and vibe to it.

When we was at Denmark we stayed at Parry beach, I would suggest this camp-site to anyone. It was the first camp-site we went to where we can have fire's. I (Aimee) has never had a camp-fire before, I know I'll be doing it again.

Parry Beach had one of the best beaches to fish from. When we arrived the first thing we noticed was that the beach was 100 meters away from our pitch.
after setting up camp we ventured down the beach to have a closer look we met a young lad called Brody who was reeling in fish left right and centre the boy was a class act and was just using a bit of raw chicken as bait.
So after seeing Brody catching so many fish we thought we would try our luck. was fish for dinner?

We spent the night around the fire with fresh cooked bread. the bread was cooked on the open fire. we was all so introduced to bread on a stick.
bread on a stick you may ask? bread on a stick was fresh dough wrapped around a large stick and placed over the hot embers of the fire and eventually the bread cooked and it tasted amazing.
Gustav told Aimee that bread on a stick was good with jam or that you could put a sausage in it that made us both chuckle.

After a good nights sleep we awoke to the sound of the ocean waves crashing on the beach and rocks. as we climbed out of the tent we were greeted with a hot cuppa the water had been boiled on the fire in a billy can this was what camping was all about.
After breakfast we ventured down to the beach for a spot of fishing and surprise surprise the boy Brody was already there catching the fish.
after a few hours of fishing and not even a bite we wondered why we were not catching anything. so we retired back to camp for food and a brew and and decided to call it a day.

the camp-site was situated about 20kms from the main road and was nice and secluded.
all the facilities were basic the showers were solar powered there were no powered sites so it was back to basics that we loved.
the nearest provisions were about 30kms away in Denmark town.

That night we sat around the camp fire and enjoyed a pot roast and a nice cold beer and decided that tomorrow was the our day of fishing.
and that day came we were out in the ocean and not fishing off the rocks this time we had changed our rigs and bait and to our joy the fish were biting we had a great day and we all caught our fair share of fish and even Aimee had her fair share and to her joy it was the first time ever that Aimee had caught anything and that night we were all on a high and we had a lovely fish supper and even Brody joined us.

The next day it was time to move on we packed up and hit the road we headed towards Denmark town first as we heard there was a market/fate on. On the way to the market we met a gentleman who was mothering a joey Aimee got to hold him.
the market was full of stalls selling and promoting there organic foods and homemade clothes and it was noticeable the community were so supportive of each other and so close knitt.
Kids didn't watch tv they spent there time making clothes and toys to sell at the markets and playing musical instruments.
We spent our time walking the stalls and chilling out watching the bands and family's enjoying there selves.

Sammy The Seal

We woke up early Monday morning ready to hit the road again and start to make our way east again. We left Cape Le Grand around 8.30 am, so we could spend a few hours walking around the town before heading out to Fitzgerald National Park.

When we stayed in the hostel, two guys told us that there was a seal that lived under the big jetty. The told us that he will swim along side you when you walk down he jetty. So Aimee and I walked the all way to the end of jetty and we had not seen him. We thought that they'd had us over, we was about to leave and Aimee spotted him under the walk way on the sand, so we walked out there for nothing. It was so windy out there and by the time we started to walk back it had started to rain.

We managed to get a shot of him whilst he was on the sand when it got brighter a few hours later. But do you think we can find it?

Whale Watching

A few Saturdays ago we got invited to do some whale watching with our friend Lisa we met going through Thailand. The Indian Ocean was calm as but Aimee still managed to get sea sick...

We caught the boat from Freemantle and headed out into the Indian Ocean just a few miles north of Rottnest Island. It took us about 30 minutes to get there, and once we found the pod of whales we seen them in all their glory.
Our first encounter with the whales was a female teaching her baby how to breech, this was amazing. The mother would jump out of the water then a few moments later the little whale would copy exactly what she done. It was breath taking. Although these whale were a good distance away you could see everything.

The captain drove the boat up as close as we are allowed to go, and then we seen around 12 whales all at different times doing doing different whaley things. The boat was turned off and the under water microphone was turned on. Well this made Aimee fill up, the sound of the male whales singing to attract the attention of a female sounded so beautiful.

A few moments later some of the whales decided to investigate our boat, they came up so close, humpback whales are enormous! They then decided to show off, showing us some of the things they could do.

We had 2 tour guide, one was commentating and the other was taking photo's of the whales so they can gather as much information of them as they can. Apparently one of the whales has never been seen before so they had to take as many photo's as possible.

The way they tell whales apart from each other is the pattern on their tail, each whale has a different one just like our human fingerprint.

The Hype About Singapore Was A Very Big Let Down

When we told people was going to Singapore, everyone seemed to give the place loads of hype. And how it was clean and all that shit.

Yes it was clean well, there was no chewing gum (as this has been banned) but the place wasn't as good as people told us it would be.

Anyway as we had little money, we decided to go to a cheap hotel. We was told to go to Hotel 81 and they would look after us. So off we went in search of one of one the hotels. We found one i forget what the name of it was called. And they quoted us for 5days £375. Yes thats right £375. That would of been a big blow budget for Singapore.

The fella behind the desk asked us if this price was ok, we looked at each other and said we couldn't afford this not even one night. He told us not to worry and picked up the telephone. Thinking he was calling a customer we pick up our bags and began to walk out. The man was shouting for us to stop as he was actually on the phone to another Hotel 81. He said that there is room in their hollywood hotel.

Me being me thought there was a place called Hollywood, but I thought wrong. It was the name of the hotel and the rooms had themes to them like you could have a cave room or a space room ect. We had the basic room, which was right at the top of the hotel. This came to £130 for 5days. I guess we could of got it cheaper but we didn't book in advance as we kept changing the dates of when we was meant to get here.

We went out to search for something good. We found out that Tourist could get a cheaper rated transport card. This made travel a whole lot cheaper. (If you ever go to Singapore ask for a tourist card at city hall or the airport).

If Singapore wasn't expensive then I guess I would of enjoyed it a bit more, but the fact you had to pay for everything was a bit OTT. Here's a few photo's we took.

One of the things we wanted to do whilst we was here was to go on the night safari. Shame I didn't take my better camera with us on this round the planet trip as i would of come in handy on this safari.
We wasn't allowed to take photo's with the flashes on. We did try our best mind.

Kuala Lumpur - The 'ps' chapter

How could I forget to write about the 'Batu Caves'. This place is a must if you ever go to KL. Although be prepared to

1. Climb the 272 stairs that take you to the cave
   and
2. be attacked by little devil monkeys

This cave is religious Hindu cave.  A very beautiful cave if I may add.

This cave would of been hectic if we hadn't of got their early enough.

When you got to the bottom of the stairs, most people was leaving but we actually found another cave which told a story, but we have no idea what it all meant. And there was no guide who spoke English. Shame really. Or is that us English folk being ignorant?

Kuala Lumpur - The Second Chapter

First off before I start to babble on about Kuala Lumpur, we would like to apologize for being crap at keeping this blog up to date. For now we will blame it on the netbook we use. As we have had to keep installing the OS system as it keeps dying on us.

So here goes.
The second chapter of the Busy Town Of KL.

This place is pretty god damn good. I (Aimee) would actually consider going there again but for longer. Maybe see if we could get a working visa for there? It will be worth a try wouldn't it?
Anyway after the buildings we went to see we decided to see what other stuff this concrete jungle had to offer. He found the KLCC Aquarium and spent the afternoon in there. When we got there the que was massive and was about to walk away until we seen the fast track que. As we had the metro/bus/train prepaid tickets we could actually use the fast track as the pre-paid card was for all differnt companies other than transport. We could use it at burger king, KLCC, nando's ect.

So we used the ticket to get into the aquarium. First tank we came across was the Paraná tank. Oh boy did them things look fierce.

 We then noticed a child's touch and feel tank. Yes so me and the Newt's went straight over to touch and feel the fish they had in the tank.

There was a sea cucumber but that just looked like a big turd, which kind of put me off from touching it. I began to feel like a big kid in this part of the Aquarium. As there was a tunnel children could crawl up and poke their head out of a glass thing to see the otters closer.
And I did what I had to and pushed the kids out of the way so I could have a go. (I didn't really push the kids there was no one else there.)

After The Aquarium we headed to the Reggae Bar, in china town for a nice cold drink and pizza. And strangely enough we bumped into a work pal Aimee used to work with as SBC a few years back.
